GDC 2016 Panel - Designing Spartan Abilities for Halo 5: Guardians
Meine Highlights:
5:40 "But honestly, there aren't really any big gameplay gaps we are trying to fill"
5:50 "We are at great risk of overcomplicating things"
6:30 "Finally on the evolutionary path we have to make sure that Halo remains Halo. We've got a vocal very dedicated fanbase that is extremely important to 343 in the franchise. We can't change Halo so much that these players feel like strangers to the game. Not to mention Halo isn't really broken we don't need to fix it or in the wise words of our Sandbox Design Lead Chris King *don't f*** it up*"
7:34 "What about all These old cinematics that showed Spartans flying around with thrusters -
Dazu läuft eine Halo 4 Cutscene
9:32 "Those with the keen eye and those of you have been playing attention you may have notice that the ground Pound didn't show up there and that's because it almost got cut. At one point these were all the features we're going to ship with but eventually we did manage to pull it back in."
Die Grafik bei 10:32 mit CoD vs Halo...
14:40 "First let me mention that second of whether or not we included descope for Halo 5 the inclusion of Sprint was one of the most contentious discussions within the Studio. Specifically because of this escapability problem I just mentioned. But in 2015 sprint is a staple for the modern FPS gamer leaving out of Halo 5 would have been ignoring a huge portion of the gaming demographics expectations."
15:56 Über die Doppel-Sprung Fähigkeit "And finally to put the nail in the coffin our level metrics were already locked and a lot of spaces would need to be reworked in order to Support this additional increase of in vertical gameplay."
Halo soll weiterhin Halo bleben.
